One of 48 Agencies to Receive Grant to Conduct Outreach and Education about Health Reform

We are pleased to share that Vision y Compromiso is one of the awardees at the press conference May 14, 2013, by Covered California, who announced it intends to award grants totaling $37 million to 48 lead organizations. Visión y Compromiso is one of the 48 organizations. The grant will be used to conduct outreach and education programs on how Californians can access affordable health care coverage under the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act also known as Health Reform.
This award will support increased awareness and education about the new benefits, the subsidy programs available to them and to motivate individuals and families to be part of obtaining health insurance.

We are excited to build on our vast community resources and partnerships within the Network of Promotores and Community Health Workers and other organizations that we have long standing supportive relationships throughout urban and rural areas across California.

Vision y Compromiso will focus its outreach to Spanish and English speaking Latinos in need of individual insurance and families whose children may qualify, about half of whom may be eligible for financial assistance with their premiums.

Vision y Compromiso will begin July 1, 2013, to reach out to select communities. Please stay tuned for more information, locations and how you can reach us in your local area. For additional information please contact us at info@visionycompromiso.org or visit www.visionycompromiso.org.

Thank you your support and we look forward to success in this great effort.
